What is Cursor?

How do you use Cursor?

  1. 1Download the app
    Go to their website and download the cursor app
  2. 2Install the app
    The installation process is the same as that of VS Code. You will receive a .exe file; you just need to click it, and the installation will proceed with no additional clicks required.
  3. 3Give access and settings
    You will be provided with basic settings and the option for entire repository access. It will use OpenAI embedding to provide you with answers from the entire repository. You can disable it if you prefer.
  4. 4Access to OpenAI
    Since the OpenAI API is a paid service, you will need to create an account to use it. They offer a free tier, or you can use your own API key. You can log in to the OpenAI website to generate a new API key.
  5. 5Interface
    The interface is exactly the same as that of VS Code, so you will have no problems using it. The chat interface will be located on the right side of the app. You can ask any question you want.
  6. 6Coding
    You can select or highlight your own code, then click 'Add to chat.' This will add context to the chat interface, and you can ask questions about your own code. The system will provide answers. If you click 'Edit' and provide a prompt for the changes you want to see, the code will be modified accordingly. You will be presented with a visual representation of what has been added and removed. You will then have the option to 'Accept the code' from the AI. If you accept, the code will be changed in real-time
