What is Eddy AI?

Eddy AI is the intelligence layer inside Document360. It powers cited AI search, a 24/7 chatbot, article summaries and text to audio for readers, plus a writing agent, rewriter, glossary, FAQ and duplicate detection tools for documentation teams. Output stays grounded in your own knowledge base, with per-project controls.

Eddy AI is the artificial intelligence layer built into Document360, a knowledge base platform. Rather than a standalone chatbot, it is a set of connected capabilities that sit on top of documentation and act in two directions: reading and writing. On the reader side, AI Search interprets a question and returns a direct answer synthesized from your articles with citations one click away. An AI Chatbot named Eddy draws on the knowledge base, website, FAQs, files and support tickets to hold a single conversation. Articles can be summarized instantly or converted to audio for people who learn while commuting or multitasking. On the authoring side, the AI Writing Agent accepts a video, audio file, document or plain prompt and turns it into structured, media-rich, SEO-ready documentation. AI Writer rewrites in place, adjusting length, tone, voice or format without leaving the editor. Supporting utilities fill gaps that normally slow documentation teams: a title recommender, meta description generator for both Google and LLM discovery, tag recommender, related article suggestions, chart generator, alt text generator, translation, a glossary generator, an FAQ generator and duplicate detection that flags articles covering the same ground. An llms.txt export publishes an index for AI crawlers. The product is aimed at technical writers, product managers, support teams and engineering groups that already treat documentation as a product. It makes most sense for organizations already on Document360, since the AI layer is not sold as a separate tool for arbitrary content. Teams comparing it with standalone assistants such as ChatGPT or Claude should note the tradeoff: Eddy AI is narrower in scope but grounded strictly in your own material, with per-project toggles, review before publish and a human in the loop. Security claims include SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance carried through every AI feature. Eddy AI also exposes an MCP server so Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity can create, search and update documentation directly. Pricing is not stated on the AI page, so cost has to be confirmed with sales or a demo.

  3. 3Enable capabilities per project
Inside Document360, turn individual AI features on or off for each project so only the tools you need touch your content.
  4. 4Connect your sources
Link the knowledge base, website, FAQs, files and support tickets so AI Chatbot and AI Search answer from one unified pool of material.
  5. 5Draft and review an article
Use the AI Writing Agent on a prompt, video or file, then edit the result in the AI Writer and check it before publishing.
  6. 6Wire docs into external assistants
Expose the knowledge base through the MCP server so Claude or ChatGPT can search and update documentation from their own interfaces.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Two-sided coverage: the same platform serves readers (search, chatbot, summaries, audio) and writers (drafting, rewriting, glossary, FAQs) without separate subscriptionsAI
  • Answers are grounded in your own knowledge base and cited, which is a stronger trust story than a general purpose chatbotAI
  • Duplicate detection and style guide enforcement address the maintenance problems that make large knowledge bases unreliable over timeAI
  • MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants work directly against live documentationAI
  • Granular control: each capability can be toggled per project, and output can be reviewed before publishingAI

Cons

  • Locked to Document360: there is no path to use Eddy AI on a knowledge base hosted elsewhereAI
  • The feature list is broad but shallow per item; several tools (title, tag, alt text) solve small problems rather than deep onesAI
  • Adoption metrics on the page (45% fewer tickets, 68% self-served) come from vendor and G2 material without methodology disclosed on the pageAI
  • No pricing is published on the AI page, so budgeting requires a sales conversationAI
  • Machine translation and generated glossaries still need human review, adding editorial overhead that the marketing does not emphasizeAI
