Learn moreLocal document search engine that gives your AI agents your files

Linkly AI is a desktop app that indexes local documents, images, audio and video, then lets AI agents such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor search and read them through CLI, MCP or Skills, while original files stay on your machine.
Linkly AI is a desktop application that indexes the files on your computer and exposes them to AI agents as a searchable, private knowledge layer. Point it at a local folder and it parses the contents on its own, covering PDF, DOCX, PPTX, Markdown, HTML, EPUB, plain text, images through OCR, and audio and video files. The goal is to replace manual note organizing with a library an assistant can query directly. The workflow has two parts. The desktop app is the local engine: it builds the index, and a separate outline index maps each document so an agent can open the relevant sections of a large file instead of reading it blindly. Search works with keywords or full sentences, and a local multilingual model supports cross-language queries across hundreds of languages. The second part is the connection to an agent. Linkly AI offers a CLI, MCP integration and official Skills, and the site documents setup for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Raycast, n8n, Dify, LM Studio and others. An agent that can run commands can even install the integration from a single setup instruction. Privacy is a central design point. Original files stay on the machine, indexes go to the cloud only if the user chooses, and connected tools receive only the snippets they request. Libraries can also be published through a link, so teammates or followers can point their own agents at the same material, with the owner deciding who views or collaborates. The product suits people with large piles of unread material: students with lecture recordings and slides, researchers running literature reviews, legal teams comparing clauses across many documents, writers with years of clippings, and project teams with specs and meeting notes. Compared with uploading files to a chat assistant one at a time, it keeps documents in place and serves them to whichever agent is in use. Compared with ordinary desktop search, it is built for retrieval by models rather than for browsing by hand. Downloads exist for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows and Linux.
