What is Noctie?

Noctie is a chess AI that plays like a human across 25 levels from about 400 to 2800 Elo. It offers realistic opening practice, instant move feedback, puzzles generated from your mistakes, spaced repetition decks, lessons and daily content, on web, iOS and Android.

Noctie is a chess training platform built around a bot that plays the way people play, not the way engines play. Instead of calculating to inhuman depths, it draws on intuition learned from billions of human games, and it comes in 25 strength levels that run from roughly 400 Elo up to super grandmaster territory near 2800. Each level brings its own opening choices, its own typical mistakes and even its own pace of play, so a game against Noctie feels less like being dismantled by software and more like sitting across from a club player who happens to be calibrated to you. The training loop is where most of the value sits. Choosing from common openings such as the Sicilian, the Caro-Kann or the London System starts a realistic full game in that line, and players can also import their own repertoires or opening books to drill them in live play. After each game Noctie builds puzzle decks from the moves that went wrong, and those decks feed a spaced repetition system so the same lesson resurfaces later. During play, a color coded feedback layer rates each move from excellent down to blunder, hints are available, and moves can be taken back to try again. Beyond full games, the platform offers a position editor for sparring out endgames and interesting middlegames without a clock, over 100 interactive lessons on theoretical endgames and positional themes, pre-made commented repertoires, a weekly scenario to beat and a daily puzzle. Games from Chess.com and Lichess can be imported, and the service runs on the web with iOS and Android apps. Noctie suits improving amateurs and coaches who want opponent variety they can dial in precisely. Players chasing raw calculation work or engine analysis will still need a conventional engine, but for opening practice, mistake review and low pressure repetition, this is a distinctly different tool from the usual bot list.
