AuditAE is an answer engine optimization tool that checks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews recommend a brand or send credit to a competitor. A visitor enters a website or brand, optionally adds a buyer question, and gets a report showing which engines name the brand, which ones link its site as a source, and which other domains collect the citations. The report also breaks down share of voice, so a gap between being mentioned and being linked becomes visible. The audit goes further than reporting. After signing up, the tool writes buyer questions for the site, runs them across the engines, reads each answer along with the cited sources and a snapshot of the customer's own pages, and explains why another site won. Typical reasons include a roundup that lists a rival, a competitor that owns the comparison page, or a page that never answers the question directly. Those findings become a fix plan ranked by how many lost answers each change would close, naming the page to edit and what belongs on it. Applying the plan depends on the stack. A free WordPress plugin lets AuditAE make edits once write access is granted, with new pairings limited to reading and drafting until publishing is enabled. Code-built sites such as Next.js or Astro can have Claude Code or Cursor pull the plan through an MCP server. Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace and Framer sites receive step-by-step instructions for their own editors. A built-in assistant called AEBOT answers follow-up questions and is billed per reply. Pricing is metered per check rather than per seat or per month, with each engine priced differently and team seats free. New accounts receive $5 in credit, and a free single-question check needs no signup. That model suits small businesses, agencies and founders who audit on demand. Teams that need heavy always-on monitoring may find a flat subscription from Semrush, Otterly, Peec AI or Profound cheaper, a trade-off the vendor acknowledges itself.
