mindmap.io is a browser mind mapping tool where any node can be an AI chat with branch-aware context. It also supports images, PDFs and Markdown, an editing agent called Milo, and a connector for Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and others.
mindmap.io is a browser-based mind mapping tool that treats each node as a possible AI conversation. Instead of a linear chat window, a question and its follow-ups spread across a canvas as branches, so the whole line of inquiry stays visible. Nodes can also hold plain notes, images, PDFs and Markdown, which lets the same canvas serve as a classic mind map when AI is not wanted. The core mechanic is branching. A side question on any answer opens its own branch while the main thread stays where it is. Each branch carries the path from the root down to that node and nothing else, so two branches can explore opposite directions without their context bleeding together. This suits researchers, students, writers and anyone who tends to chase tangents and loses the thread in a standard chat history. Color coding organizes the map, folded branches show counts, and a zoom-out view collapses every node to a one-line summary for scanning a large map at once. Beyond the built-in chat, an agent called Milo can edit maps on request. A connector, reachable at mindmap.io/mcp, lets users work from their own Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Gemini or Muse assistant, with read-only and write tools the assistant may use. The site also describes AI exploring and building knowledge bases on the user's behalf. Sharing is link-based. A published map gives anyone a read-only link, or an embed in a page, and viewers can copy it into their own maps to keep building. It runs in the browser on phones and tablets with touch panning, zooming and editing, with nothing to install. The site states that maps are not used to train AI, and that prompts go only to the model provider the user chose for that node. Among alternatives, it sits between traditional mind mapping apps, which are mostly manual, and general AI chat tools, which are linear. Its distinguishing idea is merging the two on one spatial canvas.
