Text is typed or pasted into a capped editor (500 standard characters, 1000 in the premium flow), then a language, a named voice, an emotion style and a speaking speed are chosen before playback. Conversion runs on the service's own servers rather than on the visitor's machine, so the page stays light on modest hardware, and finished audio can be downloaded as an MP3 with one click. The distinguishing feature is the emotion layer. Fourteen speech styles are offered, including neutral, chat, customer service, newscast, angry, cheerful, sad, excited, friendly, terrified, shouting, unfriendly, whispering and hopeful, each with a sample clip to audition before committing.
