What is Drata AI?

Drata AI is an AI drama tool. Drata AI adds agentic automation to Drata's trust management platform: it maps policies to controls, drafts questionnaire and Trust Center answers, summarises vendor SOC 2 reports, governs AI agents and runs vendor risk assessments.

Drata AI is the intelligence layer built into Drata's trust management platform, aimed at security, GRC and sales teams that spend too much of their week on repetitive evidence work. Rather than a standalone chatbot, it is a set of AI capabilities threaded through compliance, risk and assurance workflows: mapping policy text to controls, generating cloud tests for AWS, Azure and GCP, explaining why a control test failed, and summarising vendor SOC 2 reports or questionnaires so third-party reviews move faster. The assurance side is where the AI is most visible outside the security team. Questionnaire assistance drafts answers from approved Trust Center content and internal Knowledge Base documentation, learns from human edits and approvals, parses questions out of PDF and DOCX files, and can fill in customer trust portals through a Chrome extension. Answers to trust questions asked in Slack and Microsoft Teams are also surfaced in place, which shortens the gap between a prospect asking and a sales rep responding. Drata has extended this into agentic territory with two newer products. AI Agent Governance discovers agents running in your environment, checks actions against policy before they execute, monitors for drift and records decision evidence for auditors. Agentic TPRM Assessment retrieves vendor documents, evaluates them against centralized criteria, drafts follow-up questions, communicates with the vendor and links criteria, evidence and conclusions in a single output. A dedicated MCP server connects external AI assistants to the Drata workspace. The tool suits organisations already running a formal compliance programme, particularly those pursuing ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF or AIUC-1 alongside conventional frameworks. It competes with Vanta, Secureframe and similar GRC platforms that are adding AI assistance of their own, and its main differentiators are the depth of the assurance tooling and the early bet on agent governance. Pricing is not published on the product page, so buyers should expect a sales-led evaluation.

Pros and cons

  • Questionnaire assistance draws on approved Trust Center and Knowledge Base content and improves from human editsAI
  • Agent governance discovers shadow AI, enforces policy before actions run and keeps auditor-grade decision recordsAI
  • Answers to trust questions surface in Slack and Microsoft Teams, cutting back-and-forth for sales teamsAI
  • Built-in framework support for ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF and AIUC-1 covers the AI governance sideAI

Cons

  • No public pricing; you cannot estimate cost without a sales conversationAI
  • Feature set assumes a mature compliance programme, so small teams may find it heavyAI
  • Agent governance and agentic TPRM are new, so real-world coverage of agent fleets is largely unprovenAI
