What is Knowster?

Knowster turns an existing website into a support chatbot: it reads your public pages, refreshes them on a schedule, and answers visitor questions in their own language from a single line of code. Extra facts can come from a read-only Google Drive folder or hand-written pinned answers, and unanswered questions become a to-do list.

Knowster is a website chatbot built around a single idea: the answers your customers want are already written somewhere on your site, so the bot should read them rather than make you write a script. It crawls the public pages you point it at, builds a searchable index of their content, and answers visitor questions from that material in whatever language the visitor used. Setup is described as one line of script and roughly five minutes, with no plugin, migration or developer involved. The knowledge base is not limited to the site itself. A read-only Google Drive folder can be connected and is re-checked every ten minutes; it handles Google Docs, Sheets, plain text and markdown. Anything the site does not say out loud, such as holiday hours or work the business does not take on, can be written by hand as a pinned answer, and pinned answers are followed word for word instead of being paraphrased. Site pages are re-read on a schedule so an answer does not survive a page that has changed. In daily use the widget sits on the page, adopts the colours, corners and tone of the host site, and offers suggested prompts. Questions it cannot answer are logged as a to-do list, and visitors who ask about price or availability can hand over an email, which lands as a lead in the dashboard. Every plan carries lead capture; the analytics dashboard starts on Starter and white-labeling on Pro. The product is aimed squarely at small businesses without a support team: clinics, dealerships, cafes, law firms, clubs, cruise operators. Compared with a generic bot, the appeal is that its knowledge tracks the site automatically. Compared with a hand-built knowledge base tool, the tradeoff is depth of control. The free plan (100 messages a month, one website) exists to test whether it can answer at all, and paid tiers run from $39 to $299 a month.

How do you use Knowster?

  1. 1Scan your site with the no-account demo
Enter your website address on the homepage and the demo reads up to 20 pages, then lets you ask questions only that site would know. Nothing is stored and the demo expires after 15 minutes.
Knowster — Scan your site with the no-account demo
  2. 2Create an account and connect your site
Sign up from the dashboard, then add the website you want the bot to answer from. This is where the real knowledge index is built, beyond the temporary demo.

  3. 3Add extra sources and pinned answers
Optionally connect a read-only Google Drive folder for price lists and policies, and write pinned answers by hand for facts the site never states. Pinned answers override generated ones.

  4. 4Paste the script tag into your site
Copy the single line of code and drop it into WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Ghost, Drupal or hand-written HTML. The widget goes live for every visitor immediately.
  5. 5Review the questions it could not answer
Check the dashboard to see unanswered questions and captured leads, then correct gaps with a written answer or a page edit.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Answers are drawn from pages the business has already written, so no script or answer library has to be built firstAI
  • Handles multiple languages automatically, answering each visitor in the language they asked inAI
  • Unanswered questions are logged as a to-do list and price or availability queries can capture an email leadAI
  • Site content is re-read on a schedule, so changed pages do not leave stale answers behindAI
  • Pinned answers are followed verbatim, which suits fixed facts like opening hours or policiesAI

Cons

  • Google Drive ingestion reads only Docs, Sheets, plain text and markdown; PDF and Word files are explicitly unsupportedAI
  • Only one Drive folder can be connected, and it is read-only and re-checked every ten minutes rather than instantlyAI
  • The free tier is capped at 100 messages a month and one website, which is enough for testing but not for real trafficAI
  • Analytics and white-labeling are locked behind the paid Starter and Pro tiers respectively, so the free plan gives little insightAI
  • No API or developer tooling is documented, so teams wanting programmatic access or custom integrations are not servedAI
