What is NovelCraft?

NovelCraft is a novel writing platform whose co-writer suggests continuations, dialogue and description only on request, marking each suggestion as pencil until accepted. It derives a Story Bible from the manuscript, stores reusable character profiles, and publishes finished books to a reader community with ratings and reviews.

NovelCraft is a writing environment for fiction authors built around a co-writer that only speaks when spoken to. You draft in your own voice, and when you stall on a sentence you request a continuation, a line of dialogue, a piece of description or a specific story beat. The suggestion appears at the caret in blue pencil rather than streaming onto the page. One keystroke turns it into ink, any other keystroke dismisses it, and accepted passages stay visually marked so the author can always tell which sentences were not originally theirs. What separates it from general purpose writing assistants is memory. The co-writer reads the chapters you already wrote and derives a Story Bible from them: cast members, open threads, promises made to the reader and established world facts. That dossier is rebuilt from the manuscript rather than generated separately, so it cannot introduce canon you never wrote. A separate character library lets authors define backstory, motivation, voice and appearance once, then reuse those profiles across books so a character who enters chapter nine still sounds like the one who left chapter one. The tool covers the rest of the publishing path as well. Covers can be generated from a character profile or uploaded, manuscripts export to TXT, EPUB or PDF depending on plan, and finished books get a public page, an author profile and a share card. Readers can rate, review and comment, while the author keeps copyright. The co-writer follows the author across more than twenty languages. NovelCraft sits between a plain text editor and a full assisted drafting suite. It is aimed at novelists who want help on the sentence in front of them without surrendering control of the book, and it deliberately refuses features that write prose behind the author's back. There is also a separate Bedtime Stories track for illustrated children's stories, which shares the platform but targets a different audience.

How do you use NovelCraft?

  1. 1Create an account and open a blank book
Register without a credit card and start a new book from the onboarding flow. The editor opens on a blank page where the first chapter is written in your own voice.
  2. 2Ask the co-writer for a continuation
With the caret where you are stuck, request a continuation, dialogue line or description. The suggestion appears in blue pencil; press Tab to accept it as ink or Esc to dismiss it.
  3. 3Refine an existing passage
Select text you already wrote and ask for a rephrase, expansion or shortening, then read the proposed change before deciding whether to keep it.
  4. 4Build your character library
Add profiles with backstory, motivation, voice and appearance so the co-writer keeps dialogue consistent when those characters reappear in later chapters or other books.
  5. 5Review the derived Story Bible
Check the cast, open threads and world facts the platform rebuilt from your chapters, and use it to catch threads that have gone quiet or promises still due.
  6. 6Publish and share the finished book
Generate or upload a cover, export the manuscript in a format your plan supports, and publish to a public page with an author profile where readers can rate and review.
