What is PlagAI?

PlagAI is an AI checker tool. Plag is a web based plagiarism and AI content checker from the Plagramme team, aimed at students and educators. It scores documents in 100+ languages against web and scholarly sources, flags likely AI generated sentences across 50+ languages, detects translated plagiarism, and offers paid human editing services for cleanup.

Plag is an online originality checker from the team behind Plagramme, a service that has been running since 2011. It scans a submitted document against web sources and a scholarly article database of more than 80 million papers, then reports on two separate questions: how much of the text matches existing material, and how likely it is that a machine wrote it. The AI detector covers 50+ languages and names ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini as target models, while the plagiarism engine handles 100+ languages. Both engines return a full document score at no cost, which is unusual for a category where competitors typically paywall the headline number. In practice a user uploads a file (DOC, DOCX, ODT, PAGES, RTF, TXT, PPTX, HWP or HWPX) or pastes text, then works through the result screen. Matches are colour coded: orange for paraphrase, purple for improper or flagged quotation, green for properly cited material. Every highlighted passage links back to the source it matched, and sentence level AI probabilities are shown individually rather than hidden behind a single aggregate figure. A distinctive feature is translated plagiarism detection, which catches copied material that has been run through another language to disguise its origin. Reports can be exported as PDF for submission or supervision. The product is aimed squarely at students, with a second track for teachers, lecturers and professors who get free checking for classroom use. Beyond detection, Plag sells human services: plagiarism removal, AI text humanization, proofreading and text formatting, delivered by an editing team rather than by software alone. That combination of self-serve checking and paid remediation places it between pure detectors and academic editing shops. Privacy is the main differentiator in the pitch. Documents are not added to a comparison database and are not shared with an instructor, school or third party, which matters for anyone who worries that a draft uploaded for checking could later be flagged by an institutional system. The trade-off is that the comparison corpus is the vendor's own, so coverage will differ from university licensed tools such as Turnitin.
