What is Text-Generator?

Text-Generator is an AI detection remover tool. A unified, OpenAI-compatible API that routes requests across 17 providers with automatic model selection, built-in fallbacks and one credit balance. Includes a web chat and playground, ships open source, and offers unlimited subscription or pay-as-you-go credits.

Text-Generator is a unified API gateway that puts 17 AI providers behind a single OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Instead of holding separate accounts with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Mistral, DeepSeek, Groq and others, you fund one credit balance and call the provider network through the same SDK calls your application already uses. The platform also runs a router: "Auto" profiles read each request and select a model suited to its speed, quality and cost needs, while exact model IDs remain available whenever consistency matters more than flexibility. The Auto family covers common workload shapes. Auto is presented as the default for general requests, Auto Fast targets low-latency work such as interactive assistants and extraction, Auto Cheap goes after formatting and classification, Auto Code routes coding prompts by complexity, Auto Reasoning handles planning and math, and Auto Vision takes image understanding and OCR. Selection happens without sending the prompt through another AI call, and provider fallback is built in so a rate-limited provider does not stall the request. The product fits teams building on top of language models rather than individuals looking for a chat interface. Migration is deliberately small: keep the OpenAI SDK, change the base URL to the Text Generator endpoint and supply a key. Chat completions and streaming-compatible responses are supported, along with aliases, routing metadata and provider response headers for debugging. A web chat, playground and built-in creation tools are included too, and the platform is fully open source, so the router and API can be inspected or self-run. The obvious trade-off is that the clever part is the routing layer, not a proprietary model. Buyers who need guaranteed pinning to one vendor or full transparency into per-request model choice will spend time on exact IDs. It also competes with going direct: provider consoles give the deepest feature access, while Text-Generator wins on consolidation, fallback and a single bill.

How do you use Text-Generator?

  1. 1Create a free account
Sign up with an email and password of at least six characters. A free account gives you an API key and access to the chat and playground surfaces.
  2. 2Review the provider network
Browse the provider pages to see which vendors and models sit behind the endpoint before you commit to a routing strategy or an exact model ID.
  3. 3Pick an Auto profile or an exact model
Start with text-generator/auto for general work, or choose Auto Fast, Auto Cheap, Auto Code, Auto Reasoning or Auto Vision for a specific workload shape.
  4. 4Point your OpenAI client at the new base URL
Keep the OpenAI SDK, set base_url to https://api.text-generator.io/v1, add your key and send chat completion requests as usual. Streaming responses are supported.
  5. 5Choose unlimited or pay as you go
Subscribe for unlimited chat, UI tools and provider API access, or stay on credits and top up only when you call the API. The subscribe page handles checkout.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • One API key and one credit balance replace accounts across 17 providers.AI
  • OpenAI-compatible endpoint means existing SDK code migrates with a base URL change.AI
  • Six Auto profiles cover fast, cheap, code, reasoning and vision workloads.AI
  • Built-in provider fallback keeps requests moving when a model is rate-limited.AI
  • Fully open source, so the router and API can be audited or self-hosted.AI

Cons

  • Routing adds a layer of abstraction that can obscure exactly which model served a request.AI
  • Provider coverage is broad but not exhaustive; niche or private models may be missing.AI
  • Costs move through prepaid credits, which suits metered API work less than flat budgets.AI
  • Teams that need deep vendor-specific features may still end up in provider consoles.AI
