What is BoostRail?

BoostRail is a prepaid API gateway giving OpenAI and Anthropic compatible access to 68 text, image and video models from 13 labs, with one USD balance, same-model failover and per-token pricing at or below list prices on leading models.

BoostRail is an API gateway that puts text, image and video models from 13 labs behind a single base URL. The catalog lists 68 models: 56 text, 8 video and 4 image. It includes Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Qwen and Kimi families. Requests use either the OpenAI format or the Anthropic Messages format, so existing SDKs keep working once the base URL and API key are swapped. The model id in the request decides which model answers. The service is aimed at developers, teams building AI products and people who run coding agents. In practice, a user registers, tops up a prepaid USD balance and sends calls to api.boostrail.com. Billing is per token for text, per image for image models and per second for video models, all drawn from one balance and covered by one invoice. For leading models, token prices are stated to sit at or below official list prices. A published example shows claude-sonnet-5 at $1.90 input and $9.50 output per million tokens, against an official $2.00 and $10.00. A cost calculator helps estimate monthly spend. Reliability is handled through routing. Each model has several routes, and when one fails, the request moves to another route of the same model before streaming begins, so a reply never changes route midway and a different model is never substituted. Routes are compared with the official model at least once a week. A bring-your-own-key option lets requests use a personal provider key, with fallback to platform routes if that key fails, and a monthly allowance of free BYOK requests is advertised. Setup guides cover Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cline, OpenCode, Continue, Aider and the OpenAI SDK. Compared with wiring up each lab's API separately, BoostRail trades direct vendor relationships for consolidated billing and failover. It sits in the same space as other multi-model gateways, with a narrower focus on price parity and agent tooling than on a visual interface.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Works with OpenAI and Anthropic SDKs by changing only the base URL and API keyAI
  • 68 text, image and video models from 13 labs behind one key and one USD balanceAI
  • Failover moves to another route of the same model before streaming startsAI
  • Published per-token prices, with leading models at or below official list pricesAI
  • Setup guides for Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cline, Continue, Aider and other agent toolsAI

Cons

  • Prepaid only, with card top-ups starting at $5, so there is no invoiced or pay-as-you-go optionAI
  • The $1 trial credit expires after 7 days and depends on the month's budget lastingAI
  • Verified capabilities are sparse: several listed models show only streaming, not tools or JSON schemaAI
  • Adds a middleman between the app and the model lab, so routes and data handling depend on BoostRailAI
  • No visual playground or no-code interface is described, so it suits developers rather than casual usersAI
