Vatis Tech is a speech recognition service that turns audio and video files into text. It handles podcasts, meetings, voice notes, interviews and video recordings, advertising 95%+ accuracy across more than 50 languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese and Korean. Files can be dropped in, pasted as a link, or recorded live in the browser. The supported input list covers MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, AAC and OGG for audio, and MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV and WebM for video. A one hour recording typically finishes in under a minute. In practice the workflow is a transcript library plus an editor. Uploaded files appear in a list showing length, language and status, then open into a timestamped transcript split by speaker, displayed beside the source video. From there the output can be cleaned up, downloaded as TXT, DOCX, SRT, VTT or JSON, or turned into PDF and subtitle files. The same interface offers summaries, translation and an assistant that answers questions about a recording, so the transcript becomes a document to work from rather than just a dump of text. The product leans heavily on Romanian. An independent benchmark from University of Bucharest researchers tested seven transcription systems on over 126 hours of Romanian speech, and Vatis placed top two overall, first on Antena 1 news at 95.6% accuracy and first on podcasts, ahead of Google's Chirp on all six test sets. That makes it a strong pick for teams working in Romanian or neighbouring Central and Eastern European languages, where general purpose models tend to underperform. Buyers who only need English will find the gap to Google, Microsoft and Whisper much narrower, and the case rests more on price, export formats and the API. The developer API is part of the offering, and a real time streaming model for Romanian voice agents and contact centres is in early access, aimed at phone quality audio, regional accents and mid sentence Romanian to English switching.
