Learn moreSplit flat images into editable layers with inpainted backgrounds

EzLayers is a web tool that uses AI to separate a flat image into up to 16 editable layers, fill in hidden backgrounds, and export transparent PNG stacks or layered PSDs for Photoshop and Figma.
EzLayers is a browser-based tool that takes a flat raster image and breaks it into separate editable layers. Instead of tracing objects by hand with a pen tool, the user uploads a PNG, JPG or WebP file (up to 30 MB) and the AI identifies discrete elements such as subjects, text and cast shadows, then places each on its own transparent layer. Up to 16 layers can be produced from a single image, and the stacking order and natural alpha transparency are kept intact. The feature that sets it apart from simple background removers is amodal inpainting. When an object covers part of another element, EzLayers reconstructs the hidden texture and lighting behind it, so a layer can be moved or reordered without leaving a hole. Ground shadows and soft edges are preserved during this process. Users can let the AI auto-detect elements or steer extraction with optional text prompts, and a built-in web editor allows dragging to reorder, toggling visibility, renaming layers, adjusting alpha masks and editing a selected layer with prompts. Output comes as transparent PNG stacks at full resolution or as layered PSD files that retain hierarchy, naming and alpha masks, aimed at Photoshop, Figma and similar design tools. Re-exporting in another format is described as free. The site names graphic designers, illustrators, e-commerce and marketing teams, print shops and custom apparel makers, and presentation creators as target users. Pricing runs on monthly credits, with three subscription tiers (Starter, Pro, Studio), yearly billing at a discount and one-off credit packs. Higher tiers add deeper layer counts through region editing, priority GPU queues and, on Studio, batch upload. New accounts receive 20 free credits without a credit card. Among alternatives, EzLayers sits between manual layer tracing in a desktop editor and general background-removal tools: it is narrower in scope than a full image editor, but built specifically for turning a finished flat image back into a workable layered file.
