Furriq analyzes one cat photo against 40+ visual markers and returns three likely breed matches with confidence scores and stated limits. It needs no sign-up, offers one free guest scan, then sells one-time credit packs.
Furriq is a web-based cat breed identifier that reads a single photo and returns the closest breed matches, each with a percentage confidence. The analysis weighs more than 40 visual markers, including coat pattern, color, face shape, eye color and body structure, and maps them to the traits of more than 60 breeds. Each result lists three likely breeds with notes on looks, traits and health, and the site states plainly that the output is a visual estimate, not DNA proof or a purebred guarantee. The tool is aimed at cat owners who have just adopted an animal of unknown background, curious owners of mixed cats, and people comparing breeds before choosing one. Shelters, rescues and breeders are pointed to a batch scan page for identifying several cats at once. Because the system is built around uncertainty, it suits someone comfortable with a "likely" answer. The site itself says it is a poor fit for anyone who needs laboratory-grade certainty. In practice the flow is short. A visitor drops in a JPG, PNG or WebP file up to 8 MB, or taps one of the sample cats to see how a report looks. A quality check runs locally in the browser before anything is sent, and the site says original images are not stored by default. First-time guests get one free scan without an account. After that, scanning uses credits sold in one-time packs with no subscription. Around the scanner sits a reference library: individual guides for popular breeds such as Maine Coon, Siamese and Bengal, an interactive breed comparison chart, a glossary, a methodology page and a photo quality coach. A section on coat patterns explains why tabby, tuxedo or calico describes a color pattern rather than a breed, which helps set expectations. Among alternatives, Furriq competes with general pet-recognition apps and with DNA kits. It is faster and cheaper than a swab test but cannot match its accuracy, and its English-only interface and cat-only focus make it a narrow, single-purpose utility rather than a broad pet platform.
