What is IRCopilot?

IRCopilot is a stocks tool. A Windows desktop companion for iRacing that answers spoken questions about pace, gaps, fuel and strategy through a push-to-talk radio binding, with session memory and multilingual replies. The project is paused for maintenance, downloads and subscriptions are unavailable, and the unlimited tier has no announced price.

iRCopilot is a voice-controlled race engineer built specifically for iRacing on Windows. A lightweight desktop app runs alongside the simulator, reads live telemetry, and answers spoken questions over a push-to-talk radio binding. Pace, gaps, position, fuel, incidents and damage context all come back as short, calm radio-style replies while the driver keeps eyes on the road. No overlay to scan and no alt-tabbing out of the car. The workflow is deliberately narrow. Install the app, sign in with an iRCopilot account, assign push-to-talk to a wheel button or keyboard key, then join a session. The engineer detects the telemetry feed and comes online automatically. Hold the binding, ask a question, release, and wait for the response. Session memory gives answers trend awareness: a question about whether P4 is closing gets a reply that accounts for recent lap history rather than only the current instant. The engineer also speaks the driver's language, with English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese named on the site and near-universal language coverage claimed. Personality is configurable, from calm and short to deliberately sarcastic. Sim racers who already study telemetry but want it hands-free are the obvious audience, particularly those running longer races where fuel strategy and gap management matter. It is a companion to iRacing, not a replacement for analysis tools like telemetry plotters or setup software: it answers questions in the moment rather than producing post-session charts. The practical caveat is availability. The project is in maintenance, subscriptions and downloads are paused, and pricing for the unlimited tier is still to be announced. A free tier of 50 engineer calls per week is documented, and drivers who supply their own OpenAI key can use the full engineer without a subscription or weekly cap, paying their API provider directly. Only a Windows build exists, iRacing is required, and the tool is not affiliated with iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations.

How do you use IRCopilot?

  1. 1Download the Windows app
The installer and a portable build are offered for Windows 10 and 11. Both are marked temporarily unavailable while the project is in maintenance, so check the download page for status before planning a session.
IRCopilot — Download the Windows app
  2. 2Sign in to your iRCopilot account
The app requires an iRCopilot login. Account login is handled on the site, and the changelog notes a forgot password option added in a recent release.
IRCopilot — Sign in to your iRCopilot account
  3. 3Bind push-to-talk
Inside the app, assign a push-to-talk binding to a wheel button or keyboard key. This is the only control you touch mid-stint.
  4. 4Join an iRacing session
With iRacing running, join practice, qualifying or a race. The engineer picks up the telemetry feed and comes online without further setup.
  5. 5Key the radio and ask
Hold the binding, ask about pace, gaps, fuel, weather or strategy, then release. The reply arrives in the engineer style you selected.
  6. 6Choose a plan or bring your own key
The free tier allows 50 calls weekly, resetting Monday at 00:00 UTC. Alternatively, configure your own OpenAI key to bypass the weekly limit, with your provider's charges applying.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Answers arrive over a push-to-talk binding, so the driver never leaves the wheel or scans an overlayAI
  • Session memory lets gap and pace questions account for recent lap trends rather than a single snapshotAI
  • Multilingual replies, with English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese named on the siteAI
  • Free tier of 50 engineer calls weekly with no card required, and a bring-your-own OpenAI key path around the call limitAI
  • Engineer tone is selectable, from calm and brief to sarcasticAI

Cons

  • Project is in maintenance: downloads and subscriptions are paused, so new users cannot currently install or payAI
  • Windows only and iRacing only, with no support for other sims or platformsAI
  • Unlimited tier pricing is unannounced, leaving long-term cost unknownAI
  • Requires a separate iRCopilot account and, for the key-based route, your own OpenAI credentials and billingAI
  • Voice replies depend on an external AI provider, so call latency and quality sit partly outside the tool's controlAI
