What is Kvery?

Kvery is a developer tool that turns a SQL query into tables, charts, REST APIs and dashboards. Kvery converts SQL queries into tables, charts, REST APIs and dashboards without backend code. It adds AI query generation, scheduled runs, webhooks, an MCP server for AI agents, and native iOS and Android apps, with a free plan limited to 3 queries.

Kvery is a SQL workspace that takes a query and builds the surrounding product from it: a responsive table, auto-updating charts, a documented REST endpoint and a shareable dashboard. The pitch is that the backend layer between a database and a usable internal tool disappears. A developer writes or generates the query, and Kvery handles rendering, API exposure and refresh scheduling from that single definition. The query editor is the center of the product. It supports multiple tabs, schema browsing, syntax highlighting and autocomplete, and it accepts plain English input that the AI converts into SQL. From the results pane a user can generate a table with sorting, filtering and pagination, drop charts onto a dashboard canvas, or publish the query as a REST API with authentication and documentation attached. Scheduled execution runs queries on CRON-style timing and delivers output by email, Slack or webhook, which covers most recurring reporting needs without a separate BI license. Kvery is aimed at developers and small data teams who already have a database but no appetite for building an admin panel or reporting layer. It fits between raw SQL clients, which stop at results, and full BI platforms, which require modeling work and cost more per seat. The built-in MCP server is the more distinctive bet: Claude, Cursor, n8n or any MCP client can list, search and execute queries using scoped tokens that can be read-only, restricted by tag, or set to hide the underlying SQL from the agent. Security claims include AES-256 encrypted connection storage, 2FA, IP whitelisting, role-based access and audit logs, with native iOS and Android apps for viewing dashboards on the move. Supported databases are MySQL, PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server, reachable directly or through SSH tunnels.

How do you use Kvery?

  1. 1Create a free account
Register at app.kvery.io with no credit card. The free plan includes 3 queries, 1 user and all core features, which is enough to test the full query-to-API path.

  2. 2Connect a database
Add a MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQL Server connection, either directly or through an SSH tunnel. Connection details are stored with AES-256 encryption.
  3. 3Write or generate a query
Use a query tab in the editor with schema browsing and autocomplete, or describe the data you want and let the AI produce the SQL. Run it to check the result set.
  4. 4Build a table, chart or dashboard
Turn the result into a table with sorting and filtering, add charts, and arrange queries on a drag-and-drop dashboard to share with the team.
  5. 5Publish a REST API and schedule it
Generate a documented REST endpoint from the query, then schedule it with CRON-style timing and send results to email, Slack or a webhook.
  6. 6Connect an AI agent over MCP
Open Profile, then MCP / API Keys, copy the config and paste it into Claude, Cursor or n8n. Set the token to read-only or tag-scoped and review calls under Activity.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • A single query definition feeds the table, chart, API and dashboard, so there is no duplication between output typesAI
  • Natural language to SQL lowers the entry barrier for teammates who know the data but not the syntaxAI
  • The MCP server with scoped, read-only and SQL-hiding tokens is a well-considered design for agent accessAI
  • Free plan includes all core features, so the full workflow can be evaluated before payingAI
  • Native iOS and Android apps with auto-refresh and deep link sharing cover on-call and mobile reviewAI

Cons

  • The free tier stops at 3 queries and 1 user, which is tight for any real evaluation of dashboards plus APIsAI
  • Database coverage is listed as MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server, so teams on warehouses like BigQuery or Snowflake are out of scopeAI
  • Paid plans are priced annually per tier by query count, so a team that needs many small queries pays for capacity it may not useAI
  • Agent and API access depends on token management, and tokens expire after 90 days, which adds an operational stepAI
  • No published detail on self-hosting or data residency, which matters for regulated industriesAI
