Maze AI is an iPhone game that combines text adventure with role-playing mechanics. Each session starts inside a scenario that supplies a world, a role for the player and a set of stakes. From there an AI narrator tells the story turn by turn, building on the character, the decision just made and everything that has already happened. Play works through two input modes. At every turn the game offers a few choices written for the current situation, such as swearing an oath or searching a logbook. Players can take one of those, or ignore them and type an action in their own words, and the story responds to what was typed. Because the narration follows decisions rather than a fixed script, replaying a scenario can lead somewhere different. Characters are more than a name. The game tracks stats such as health and strength, skills that influence which actions succeed, traits that reflect reputation and personality, and a limited inventory where carrying or dropping items matters.
