What is Navi?

Navi is an AI assistant that lives in iMessage, SMS and RCS and texts users when to get ready and when to leave, based on live traffic, weather, transit and flight data. No app is needed, and it is free during beta.

Navi is a text-based navigation assistant that works inside the Messages app already on a phone. Instead of waiting to be opened, it watches the route between a user and a destination, then sends a message when it is time to start getting ready and another when it is time to walk out the door, usually with a directions link attached. Conditions it tracks include traffic, transit delays and the weather for the minutes spent outside. The service is aimed at people whose days run on tight schedules: commuters, shift workers, parents handling school pickups, students heading to early classes, and anyone meeting a flight. Setup happens in plain language. A user texts where they are going, how they are getting there and when they need to arrive, and Navi adjusts the leave time as conditions shift. Airport pickups combine flight status with road traffic, accounting for delays and baggage claim. Reminders can be sent as text or voice messages, and Navi picks the moment to send them. Optional morning texts bundle weather, news briefings and other items tied to stated interests, and the assistant can suggest places or find stops along a route. Navi works over iMessage, SMS and RCS, so Android phones are covered for scheduling and alerts, while GamePigeon and Find My location sharing are limited to iMessage. Directions links default to Google Maps, and Apple Maps can be requested instead. Group chats are not supported yet. Traffic and transit data is described as less reliable outside the US. Among alternatives, Navi sits between a conventional maps app and a general chatbot. Maps apps and chatbots both wait for a prompt, while Navi initiates contact when something changes. It is deliberately narrow: it does not draft essays or handle general writing tasks. It is free during beta, with a monthly fee planned later.
