What is pic2CAD?

pic2CAD is a design tool that turns photos of people, furniture and objects into DXF, SVG and PNG CAD blocks. pic2CAD turns photos of people, furniture, plants, animals and objects into line-drawn CAD blocks, exported as DXF in millimeters, SVG and PNG.

pic2CAD converts a photograph into a line drawing that can be dropped straight into a CAD or vector file. A user uploads a picture (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC or a PDF, up to 30 MB) of a person, a piece of furniture, a plant, an animal or an everyday object, and the service returns the result as a DXF in millimeters, an SVG and a PNG. The site is aimed at architecture students and other designers who need entourage figures and furnishings for plans and elevations without buying block packs or tracing by hand. Three conversion modes are offered. Picture accurate turns the entire image into line art exactly as framed, background and pose included. Select a subject cuts the main subject out and draws it cleanly without a background, keeping the original pose and angle, and is described as the quickest route for drawing work. A third mode, an orthographic view currently marked beta, redraws a figure as a clean CAD entourage character seen from the front, side, back or top and scaled to a real height. Output formats are chosen for compatibility. The site lists AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, Vectorworks, Rhino, SketchUp and Fusion 360 on the CAD side, Illustrator, Affinity, CorelDRAW and Inkscape for vector work, LightBurn and Cricut for laser and vinyl cutting, and Photoshop and InDesign for layout. A public 2D Library of more than 300 shared blocks, sorted into people, furniture, animals, plants and objects, lets users download blocks other people have made or share their own. Pricing is credit based: three free drawings a month with an account, then one-off packs of 5, 20, 50 or 100 drawings, with a monthly subscription option also mentioned. Compared with stock block libraries or manual tracing in CAD, pic2CAD trades breadth of curated content for speed and the ability to make a block from any photo. It is a specialised utility rather than a general drawing or modelling environment.
