TweetDetective is a Chrome extension built for one narrow job: telling you how likely a tweet is to have been written by an AI model rather than a person. It sits on top of the Twitter timeline and adds a percentage readout in the lower right corner of each tweet, so the assessment appears where the content already lives instead of requiring a copy, paste and separate check on another site. The vendor claims detection of major models including ChatGPT and Bard. Setup follows three stages. You install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, pull a personal API key from the TweetDetective dashboard and paste it into the extension, then browse Twitter normally. All analysis runs against that key, which means the account is tied to the subscription rather than to a free tier. A separate demo box on the website lets you paste text and run a scan with a live character count, which is useful for judging the score before committing to a paid plan. The product is aimed at people who need to judge authenticity on social platforms: researchers tracking coordinated or synthetic accounts, journalists verifying quotes and threads, social media managers auditing a brand's feed, and ordinary users who want a second opinion on a suspicious post. It compares most directly with general-purpose AI text detectors such as those bundled into writing tools, and its advantage is placement inside the timeline rather than raw model breadth. Accuracy is stated as above 97% with under 3% false positives, but the vendor itself notes that those figures come from longer texts and may not hold for short ones. Tweets are frequently a sentence or two, which is exactly the input length where detectors tend to wobble. The service is English only and Chrome only for now, with other browsers and languages described as future plans. Treat the percentage as a signal worth weighing, not a verdict.
