Image to Layers AI is a design tool. Image to Layers AI splits a flat JPG, PNG or WebP into up to 17 aligned transparent PNG layers, exportable as ZIP or layered PSD. It also bundles background removal, upscaling, restoration and other image tools in the browser.
Image to Layers AI is a browser-based tool that takes a flat JPG, PNG or WebP and returns it as a stack of separate transparent layers. Instead of producing a simple background cutout, it separates subjects, objects and a rebuilt background into aligned RGBA PNG files. Stacking them reproduces the original picture, and each piece can be moved or edited on its own. Output can be downloaded layer by layer, as a ZIP, or as a layered PSD. The tool is aimed at designers, product photographers, e-commerce sellers, illustrators and anyone preparing assets for Photoshop, Figma, After Effects or Canva who would rather not mask by hand. Dedicated pages cover character work, including layer separation for Live2D rigging, VTuber art, manga and anime, which makes it relevant to animators and virtual avatar creators as well. In practice, a user uploads an image of up to 10MB, picks between a Flash and a Pro model, chooses a 1K, 1.5K or 2K output setting, and sets a target of 2 to 17 layers. An optional plain-language prompt describes which elements should be grouped. The model treats these settings as guidance, so the returned layer count can differ from the target. A full stack arrives in roughly a minute, with each layer named and carrying depth order and placement data. Usage is metered in credits per returned layer, and the rate depends on the model and resolution. Beyond decomposition, the site bundles a wider set of image utilities: background removal and replacement, product photo editing, text and people removal, generative fill, upscaling, sharpening, unblurring, photo restoration, and image generation including retro 80s and 90s photo styles. Compared with plain background removers that return two pieces, this focuses on multi-layer output in standard formats. Compared with manual masking in desktop editors, it trades fine control for speed and a lower skill barrier.
