What is Stable UI?

Stable UI is an AI image upscaler tool. A free Stable Diffusion front end that runs prompts on the crowdsourced Stable Horde, with many samplers, a large checkpoint list, face restoration, upscaling and background removal built in.

Stable UI is a browser based front end for Stable Diffusion that renders images through the Stable Horde, a distributed network of volunteer workers rather than a single commercial GPU cluster. The homepage pitches it plainly: create and modify images with Stable Diffusion for free, and generate without limits by leaning on the Horde. There is no local install, no model download and no account paywall in the way. A prompt box, a generate button and a wide panel of settings are the whole interface. The control surface is deeper than most free generators allow. Samplers run from the k_euler and k_heun family through DDIM to k_dpmpp_2m, k_dpmpp_2s_a and k_dpmpp_sde. Steps, width, height, guidance scale and seed sit alongside a model picker loaded with checkpoints, from base stable_diffusion and SDXL 1.0 through Deliberate, Dreamshaper, Realistic Vision, Juggernaut XL, Anything, Pony variants and a long tail of anime, furry, painterly and photo oriented merges. A dropdown labelled Random! and another labelled All Models! mean a prompt can be handed to whatever checkpoint the network has available, which is useful for experimentation but reduces control over output. Post processing is built in, a step many free tools skip. Users can run GFPGAN or CodeFormers face restoration, upscale with RealESRGAN x4plus or the anime specific 6B variant, NMKD_Siax and 4x_AnimeSharp, or strip a background from a finished image. Side navigation covers Dashboard, Generate, Images, Workers, About and Options, so there is a history view and visibility into the pool of machines processing requests. The practical audience is hobbyists, prompt tinkerers and anyone testing Stable Diffusion checkpoints before committing to a paid service or a local setup. The tradeoff is queue based output: because work is donated, generation can wait behind other users, and the model list shifts as workers come and go. Commercial studios needing deterministic turnaround should look at hosted APIs instead; Stable UI suits exploration, style hunting and zero cost iteration.

How do you use Stable UI?

  1. 1Open the Generate page
Go to the site and use the Generate tab in the side navigation. The prompt box, sampler list and image preview live on this single screen.
  2. 2Write a prompt and choose a checkpoint
Enter a description of the image you want, then pick a model such as Deliberate, SDXL 1.0 or an anime merge. Leaving it on Random! lets the network decide.
  3. 3Tune sampler, steps and dimensions
Select a sampler from the list, then set steps, width and height, guidance and seed. Defaults show 30 steps at 512 by 512 with guidance 7 and seed 1.
  4. 4Generate and wait for the queue
Hit Generate 1 image. The job is dispatched to Stable Horde workers, so wait time varies with network load. Check the Workers tab to see available capacity.
  5. 5Apply post processing
After the image appears, run a face restorer such as GFPGAN, upscale with RealESRGAN x4plus or 4x_AnimeSharp, or use strip_background to isolate the subject.
  6. 6Review your history
Open the Images tab to revisit earlier generations and reuse settings. The Dashboard gives an overview of activity across the session.

Pros and cons

  • Built in face restoration, upscaling and background removal after generationAI
  • No install required: everything runs in the browser through the Stable HordeAI

Cons

  • Output speed depends on volunteer workers, so requests can queue during busy periodsAI
  • The Random! and All Models! options can send a prompt to an unpredictable checkpointAI
  • Model availability is not guaranteed since the line up depends on which workers are onlineAI
  • No editorial guardrails visible in the interface, and the model list includes NSFW checkpointsAI
