Learn moreFree cross-platform terminal with SSH, databases, editor and AI CLI panes

Yaw Terminal is a free desktop terminal for Windows, macOS and Linux with split panes, SSH and database connections, a built-in editor and AI CLI integration for tools like Claude Code, with no account or usage tracking.
Yaw Terminal is a desktop terminal emulator from Yaw Labs that bundles several tools developers usually install separately: split panes, an SSH client, a database connection manager, a file editor and an AI assistant. It runs on Windows (x64 and ARM64), macOS on Apple Silicon, and Linux, and the homepage states that it needs no account and does no usage tracking. The AI side is built around the keys and command-line tools a developer already has. The assistant works with existing provider keys, and the terminal can launch Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity CLI or Vibe CLI through an install wizard. When it detects one of these tools, it opens a companion shell in the same directory, so the AI session sits on the left and a regular shell on the right. A feature called Yaw Mode can be switched on in settings to layer a bundle of rules, skills and agents over Claude Code sessions started from yaw. In Augment mode it sits on top of the user's own configuration and keeps history so resuming works; in Fresh mode it runs only the bundle and keeps history inside the session. Day to day use is keyboard driven. Shortcuts open tabs, split panes vertically or horizontally, start a server or database connection, call the AI, and open a command palette. Files can be opened with `yaw filename`, which launches an editor powered by micro, with syntax highlighting, a git diff gutter, bracket auto-closing and soft-wrap preconfigured. Installation is a single shell or PowerShell command per platform, with .deb, .rpm and AppImage packages on Linux. Yaw fits between plain terminals such as the defaults shipped with each operating system and heavier AI-first terminal products that require sign-in. It is most useful for developers who work with remote servers and AI coding CLIs together, and who want one tool instead of a terminal, an SSH manager and a separate editor. Yaw Labs also publishes Yaw MCP and a free book on running MCP in production, which sit alongside the terminal.
