Learn moreTurn audio, YouTube links and recordings into sheet music, MIDI and guitar tabs

Songscription AI is an audio tool that turns audio, YouTube links and recordings into sheet music, MIDI and guitar tabs. Songscription AI converts uploaded audio, video links or live recordings into editable sheet music, MIDI, guitar tabs and MusicXML. It handles single instruments or full ensembles, and includes a notation editor and piano roll.
Songscription AI is a web-based music transcription platform that listens to audio and writes out the notes. Users can upload MP3, WAV or M4A files, paste a YouTube, Instagram or TikTok link, or record directly in the browser. The result can be viewed as sheet music, an interactive piano roll or guitar tabs, and exported as PDF, MIDI, MusicXML or Guitar Pro files. Instrument coverage is broad for a transcription tool. Piano, guitar, bass, violin, flute, trumpet, saxophone, drums and vocals can each be transcribed on their own. A Multi-Instrument mode, still in beta, takes a mixed band or ensemble recording and produces a separate part per instrument group. Beyond straight transcription, the platform can arrange a song as a piano cover at a chosen difficulty, a piano and vocal version, or a lead sheet with chord symbols. Guitar tab output currently assumes standard tuning and is described in terms of acoustic guitar audio. In practice, a transcription opens in a built-in editor rather than as a finished file. The score can be played back, slowed down or sped up, and corrected by hand. An assistant called Annie applies edits described in plain language, and automatic piano fingering is included. The piano roll can split notes between left and right hands and adjust speed, transposition and colors, which suits players who do not read notation fluently. The audience spans learners, teachers, composers, producers and songwriters who want to capture their own recordings as notation. Classically trained players and students benefit most from the sheet music view, while producers can move MIDI straight into a DAW. Among alternatives, it competes with manual transcription, stem-splitting utilities and general audio-to-MIDI converters by pairing a notation editor and several export formats in one place. A free tier allows unlimited 30-second transcriptions, with paid plans covering longer recordings and extra export formats. The company was founded in 2024 and is backed by Reach Capital.
