What infographic makers do
An infographic maker takes raw material, such as pasted text, a keyword, a PDF, a dataset or a paper abstract, and returns a laid-out visual: charts, icons, diagrams and short blocks of copy arranged on one canvas. The AI step replaces the slow part of the job, which is deciding structure and building the first draft by hand in a design app or a slide deck.
The audience is wide. Marketers and LinkedIn creators want shareable graphics, teachers and analysts want to summarize long notes, and researchers want figures and graphical abstracts that look publication-ready. Most tools here run in the browser and let you edit the result afterward, so the output is a starting point rather than a locked image.
How to choose one
Start with the price. Anyone searching for a free infographic maker should check what the free tier actually allows, since nearly every tool here is freemium and the limits (exports, templates, branding) differ. A few are subscription-only or trial-based, which is worth knowing before investing time.
Next, match the input to what you have. Some tools work from pasted text or a long document, others from a keyword, and others from sketches and photos. Then consider the output: fully editable designs on a canvas suit teams that will tweak layouts, while editable SVGs suit people placing figures into papers or posters.
Finally, decide on the subject. General-purpose makers with large template libraries fit business and marketing content. Scientific diagram and figure tools fit researchers who need flowcharts, graphical abstracts or poster figures. Branding controls matter if the graphics will carry a company identity.

Common questions
Is there a free infographic maker?
Yes. Several tools here offer a free tier, including Napkin, Venngage, Infograph.app and Piktochart. AI Carousels Cheat Sheets is described as a free LinkedIn cheat sheet and infographic maker with a PRO upgrade. Free plans usually cap exports or features, so check the limits first.
Can these tools make scientific figures?
Some are built for it. GAAbstract drafts graphical abstracts from paper text, and PaperFig and PaperClaw target scientific figures, posters and editable SVGs. ConceptViz works through chat for diagrams, flowcharts and charts.
Can I edit the result?
Many tools output editable designs rather than flat images. Napkin, Seede AI and PaperClaw are described as editable, so a first draft can be refined by hand.
When to look elsewhere
If the goal is a branded card rather than a full infographic, the Card Generator category is a closer fit. For slide-like visuals or a polished interface mockup, the Figma Design Generator category covers design-tool workflows. Researchers who only need a paper summary graphic can also compare the Graphical Abstract Generator category.
